Central
Valley Chapter
The Central Valley Chapter has been hard at work
planning the bus trip on April 5, 2008 to San Francisco. Getting all the logistics and promotion done to make the bus trip
a great time for all and raise money for scholarships. On May 10, 2008 we will
be having our 2nd annual Ag Issues forum at the Fresno County Farm Bureau.
This years forum with be a resources and solutions forum for not only the central valley farmers but California’s. Subject being covered are alternative uses of Ag waste, equipment tagging, sustainability
and air.
We are also currently selling work gloves with
the CWA logo on them. These gloves are great for gardening, farming and dirty
work where you don’t want your hands to get scratched up. They are $8 a
pair and can be purchased through Denise Junqueiro at djunqueiro@californiafigs.com or Quincy Cowen at Quincy.Cowen@churchdwight.com
Tulare-Kings
Chapter
Springtime is the busiest
time of year for the Tulare-Kings CWA Chapter. Our chapter has been very busy
planning this season’s upcoming events.
We have recently held two
membership luncheons, one in Kings County and one in Tulare County. Both membership
luncheons were well attended and we were able to recruit several new members. We
are very excited to have some new faces join our chapter!
On March 1st
our scholarship application were due. Again this year we plan to award $15,000
to students in Kings and Tulare Counties to plan on continuing their education in Agriculture.
Many applications have been submitted and interviews have begun. The final
recipient selection should be made by mid-March.
To celebrate National Ag
Week we will be having several Ag days throughout the month of March. Our petting
farm will make an appearance at the Kings County Ag Day, Tipton School Ag Day, Buena Vista School Ag Day, Heritage Center
Ag Day and at the Visalia Downtown farmers market. Also to celebrate National
Ag week we will once again having our Annual Grocery Giveaway.
Our Annual Dinner/Dance
Fundraiser will be on April 4th at the Heritage Center in Tulare. This
is our chapter’s only fundraiser. Again this year’s fundraiser will
have a live and silent auction. Our chapter members are busy selling tickets,
signing up to decorate tables in different agriculture commodities and collecting donation items. Our fundraiser is always a good time and we are looking forward to it.
If you would like more information about our fundraiser please contact Devon Benson 559-303-4366 or Beth Sequeira 559-362-7220.
